What is the Ciclostile Lab

Ciclostile Lab is a creative space within the Florence School of Fine Arts to encourage intersection, hybridity, and reconfiguration fusing analog and digital printing techniques. Facilities include an A3 Risograph printer, 6 restored Gestetner stencil duplicating machines and tools for processing and finishing artist books, graphic novels, comix, zines and posters.

The lab’s strength is the combination of techniques that can create something special and unique and the possibility to work between mediums in letterpress, risography, printmaking, drawing, and photography. The ciclostile lab is the only studio in Italy currently offering the opportunity work with these materials.

The Florence School of Fine Arts graphic arts studio also includes a fully operational letterpress shop with an acclaimed collection of Italian and French wooden and metal type, stone & photo lithography with a historic 1860 wooden Bollito e Torchio Italian star wheel press, Italian Bendini ethching presses and materials for screen printing.
